Goodspeed’s Angling in America [p. 301] describes Sage’s Collection as one of the best ever assembled in America, a collection which must be regarded as one of the most valuable American Collections of angling books. In all there are 2,000 books collated, with descriptions and annotations.

The Ristigouche and It's Salmon Fishing: with a Chapter on Angling Literature. [1888] Copy number 238 of the limited edition of 250. xxxv, (1), xvi, (2), [5]-304 pp This edition was issued in full morocco leather in three colors: brown, navy blue, and turquoise; with raised bands and gilt titles on spine, gilt pictorial decoration on cover, gilt decorative borders on outside and inside covers, TEG with marbleized end-papers. This copy is in navy blue. Enclosed in the optional custom fitted linen covered slipcase with curved eyebrow and tounge extensions at the head and heel of spine area, with internal felt strips on top and bottom of textblock area to keep the book straight and dust free. Printed on Rives mould made stock by The Meriden Gravure Co. The printing plates were destroyed after publication. It was edited by Col. Henry Siegel and Harry Marchalk, with an introduction by Arnold Gingrich, and a notice of Dean Sage by DeWitt Sage. This edition has a full-color frontispiece of Dean Sage's favorite flies by Charles DeFeo, with a hand colored Jock Scott pattern, all signed by DeFeo in pencil. Also included is a Full page color plate of a painting "Fishing in Camp Harmony" by Ogden Pleissner and also signed in pencil.
