Tarpon Fishing in Mexico and Florida, Spencer-Churchill, Edward George
18 Spencer-Churchill, Edward George Tarpon Fishing in Mexico and Florida
Far Hills, NJ Meadow Run Press 1998 1886967075 / 9781886967076 Limited/Numbered Reproduction Hard Cover As New As New Limited Edition 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall Rice, John
By Edward George Spencer-Churchill with a new introduction by Randy Wayne White Paintings by John Rice A limited reproduction of what is "perhaps the grandest of the rare old tarpon books, this is the author's account of a year spent tarpon fishing at Tampico and Boca Grande in 1905. A British Army captain related to Sir Winston, Spencer-Churchill provides an acerbic, at times fussy, though very British and dryly humorous view of the sport of tarpon fishing. A thoroughly delightful book which includes a section of spectacular early photographs of tarpon. Randy Wayne White is a former fishing guide, the author of the acclaimed Doc Ford series of mystery novels, Batfishing in the Rainforest, and is a contributing editor of Outside Magazine." Originally published in 1906 , This reproduction is one of 50 copies of the Deluxe edition, numbered, and signed by White on colophon. 76 pp. It is additionally illustrated with a new frontispiece, a photograph and two paintings by John Rice, and contains reproductions of the original 16 stereoscope cards. This deluxe edition is bound in quarter black morocco leather (the spine) with paste-paper covered boards hand made for this edition, gilt with a reproduction of the frontispiece, and contained in a cloth clamshell box with a chocolate brown leather title label on the spine of the box. Enclosed with the book are: a separate booklet containing the stereoscopic plates aligned for viewing, and a compartment containing two stereoscopic viewers.
